Rising Storm is a standalone version of Red Orchestra 2. Rising Storm was produced by Tripwire Interactive.
Rising Storm uses the setting of World War II. It is exclusively a multiplayer game in which 32 vs 32 real players can go against each other as Axis and Allies.
I want to firstly mention that if your used to Call Of Duty run and gun style play you probably won't like Rising Storm unless your looking for more realism in your First Person Shooter. You MUST hide behind cover and make very well thought out moves or routes in this game to live. Though you can respawn obviously the ultimate goal is to avoid being killed.
Respawning takes place in timed intervals so you don't respawn just as quick as you died. There is often a waiting period between death and respawn giving you extra motivation not to get killed.
Now I will cover some things about it that seperate it from Call Of Duty. You come face to face with the enemy in Call Of Duty you both start shooting the one that shot first can die just as easily as the one that shot last. Don't get me wrong Call Of Duty is a wonderful game I totally enjoy it. In Rising Storm, more often then not, whoever shoots first wins. Call Of Duty players often frown on campers. In Rising Storm though it pays to be slow and tactical.
As far as graphics Rising Storm is not top notch in that catagory but the graphics are very nice but just a little flat. The engine of this game is what makes it such a delight. It is based on the unreal engine. Everything run beautifully without a hitch. This game is not perfect but the performance of this game is a real plus!
As far as pricing goes $20 is a very cheap price for such a good running piece of software with absolutely great realism. I highly recommend this title to anyone who loves war games! You will not be disappointed. You can check out other reviews here.
